Make Believe: I love this scene

Make Believe: I love this scene
By Garret Schuelke Western Herald My intro to Kalamazoo’s underground music scene came when I attended a basement show on Locust Street—located in the heart of the of the Vine Neighborhood (a.k.a. the “Student Ghetto”). I do not remember if the house had a name, nor the two other bands that performed that night, but I do remember instantly becoming a fan of Toro and the National Guard (R.I.P …

OXYGENE 4 (EXTENDED VERSION) played on vintage synthesizers – music by Jean-Michel Jarre

September 8th, 2010 by Enrique Van Oppen

I recorded this cover of OXYGENE IV – music by Jean-Michel Jarre. NO SAMPLES were used – just the real thing (vintage electronic instruments). Every sound was played by hand and recorded onto multitrack without MIDI – like Jarre did in 1976. It was hard work – it required good timing – but I enjoyed the recording process very much. At the first picture in the video you can see a part of my studio. I used only the following vintage analog synthesizers / instruments: EMINENT 310 U (for the strings and pads with Small Stone) KORG MINIPOPS 7 DRUMBOX ARP ODYSSEY (brass-like lead sound) KORG MS-20 (bass) MOOG MICROMOOG for the sequencer sound, white noise FX and the lead sound with ELECTRIC MISTRESS flanger. It took three days to record and mix this track. Recording and mixing was doing digitally with LOGIC – I also used the reverb and delay plugins – as well as some equalizer plugs. I used some of the original Instruments from Oxygene (Korg Minipops 7, Eminent 310, Small Stone) and some other synths (I don’t have a RMI or an ARP 2600). However, the ARP Odyssey that I used is the small brother of the 2600 and its basic sound is similar). For the RMI sounds I used the Micromoog, which has very fast envelopes. Music reproduced by kind permission of Jean Michel Jarre, see www.youtube.com – thank you Jean-Michel! As a big JMJ fan I always wanted to make a very good OXYGENE 4 cover – as a maxi-single version, that never existed. For all JMJ fans (including me), here it is… There

September 8th, 2010 by Enrique Van Oppen

I just formed a new band and we want the screamo sound. I’ve never really played that type of music, but I love listening to it! Any suggestions for covers to practice?

Does anyone know of any good house music/electronic clubs in Dallas, Texas?

September 7th, 2010 by Enrique Van Oppen

I just got back from backpacking Europe and had my first dance club experience. I had sooo much fun that I would love to find some place around Dallas with the same sort of atmosphere. I’ve always been a lover of house music but was a little intimidated to go to a club.
Any help would be totally appreciated.

Dance on the Tunes of Silver Tube – Dance Party

September 7th, 2010 by Enrique Van Oppen

Silver Tube is yet an added reverie or electro dance music sensation from Russia. Dance Party is the latest album of this band. It was released in Tsvet Records in a special system. One of the numbers of the Silver Tube album, ‘Turn Around’, has by now shaped impression on the Internet, appreciation to the different online music stations.

‘Turn Around’ is a fast and foot-beating song, with delicate ideal composition array. The primary rhythm is maintained all over the song without making it tedious. A range of instruments and sounds are engaged to form a profligate environment of attractive music. If this song does not make you swivel your hips in stylish beats, not anything ever will.

Trance music has come a extensive way since its origin as an improvised version of German techno music. The customary employ of rolling bass and breathless keyboard sounds is still very much part of the genre. Other than it has also borrowed from various additional genres and musical cultures from across the world. The end result often is brand new music albums with striking novelty as is obvious from the novel album of Silver Tube.

The novel type of trance music (or techno or electro music – whatsoever you prefer to call it) is perfect for discos in party halls as well as for the reading space of your house. Almost all the numbers begin with a bang, with high energy music. So, the album is ideal for injecting energy into any dance club atmosphere.

However, Silver Tube’s Dance Party is not only about high-octane percussions and fast moving keyboard innovations. The information in the album gives the conventional hypnotizing outcome of techno music. Midway through most of the numbers in the album, when you would be submerged in the ocean of high speed and foot tapping composition, a stream of melodious tune would feed your senses. It surprises you and makes you expect more of such things. You will not be disappointed. One can sort out this kind of peaceful and nice music to what is now known as melodic Trans.

Astonishingly for a dance album, this album offers a range of numbers, each radiant with vivid feel of music from a grouping of instruments. The album has something for everyone and for each occasion. One thing common maybe with all the numbers is the faultless arrangement of surroundings music. The musical creativity behind each number is just amazing. It is a fact that does not go ignored even when you are busy moving to the tunes of the album.

Akin to some other albums in the techno or trance genre, Silver Tube’s Dance Party also creates a known but cannot figure out what sort of sentiment in the listener’s mind. Perhaps most of the great works of art invoke this class of a feeling. It merely touches the thinking mind and inspires the hidden love for cosmic music that had been implied on to our genes by nature.
